Diamond hunting in the Walmart parking lot

I tell you, my eldest daughter is another matter. Last summer, she woke up at dawn and went to the mall by bike. It's just a short distance, she will ride with friends, so this is not a safety issue that I care about, but I am hanging around in the mall all day and not using her time to do more constructive things. How uncomfortable it feels.

When she started coming home with new shoes, Ipods and all kinds of trinkets, I really started worrying about meeting her face one night and asking her to explain how she got these things for $5 a week.

To my surprise, she calmly said that she did not "hang" around the mall all day. She is actually looking for diamonds there and in the nearby Wal-Mart parking lot.

My daughter is the only person on the planet who can make me speechless. When I stood there and didn't prepare for this explanation, she said in the most mature voice, "Maybe I should explain."
