Immediately, I must say that I have a bias against the publication of this book.
In the mid-1980s, my good friend Vikki LaMotta asked if I would write her biography. I was busy writing a novel and told her I couldn't do it. Then she asked if I knew Tom Hauser. I replied that I knew him very slowly because we are all members of the Boxing Writers Association. I said that although I have never read any of his works, he has a good reputation in business. I advise her to hire a lawyer to handle the contract for writing this book. She told me she did, and she would eventually say if the book would be published.
We had dinner together a few times a month, and she told me that she had started working with Hauser, mainly in an apartment in Fortress Park City in downtown Manhattan. When the first draft of the book was completed, she was not satisfied with the results of the book, and she killed the project. As far as I know, this was in 1987, or maybe 1988.
In 2005, Vikkie LaMotta died after undergoing heart surgery, and the book was released in 2009, with the permission of her surviving relatives. Of course I have to buy it and see if it is fair to a good friend woman. My ten years.
Because there is no fault of the senior writer Hauser, for me, this book is unremarkable. Her interest in this book has never been as interesting as she is in real life.
But as I said, this may be the best unknown story.
Just my point of view.
