Eye tension - causes, symptoms and treatment

Eye fatigue is one of the most common eye-related diseases. It can happen for a number of reasons and is easy to cure in most cases. In medicine, it is called visual fatigue. With the increasing use of computers in homes and workplaces, eye fatigue has increased dramatically.

Also known as asthma, it is a symptom rather than an eye disease. It usually occurs when the eyes are tired and tired due to fatigue. It manifests itself as discomfort when looking at things. Most people have experienced some form of eye strain. This is not a serious illness and can be treated by resting alone. However, if eye fatigue occurs frequently, it may be considered a sign of other more serious eye diseases.

Working in dim light can also cause muscles around the eyes to tighten, causing eye strain.

In some cases, the strain may be a symptom of a potential ocular disease, such as presbyopia, myopia or hyperopia. Strain in patients already suffering from these diseases may be an indicator of the need for higher power correction optics [glasses or lenses].

Treating most forms is as simple as taking a few hours off. Relaxing your eyes naturally reduces any accumulated stress and fatigue. Certain sports, such as closing your eyes for a few minutes, massage your temples, etc., can also be temporarily relieved. If you are going to spend a lot of time on a computer or other visually intensive task, we recommend that you take a break on a regular basis.

You can also reduce the intensity or frequency of eye strain by working under more appropriate conditions. If using a computer, try using an LCD or TFT display instead of a CRT monitor. Make sure you work in a well-lit environment and always keep yourself at a healthy distance from your computer or TV screen. Take a break every hour, stretch your arms, back and shoulders to relieve your body pressure.

If tension causes the eyes to become too dry, you can get over-the-counter eye drops. In almost all cases, eye fatigue is not serious and can be easily cured by rest, but if it lasts for a long time, it may be wise to consult an ophthalmologist.
