One of the main factors hindering the development of sports in Nigeria today is the lack of effective management. Nigerians who care and be patriotic every day offer many solutions to help us get out of the quagmire. One of the solutions is the text entitled "Modern trends in sports management and management". It is written by Dr. Joseph Awoyinfa, a lecturer in the Department of Human Dynamics and Health Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Nigeria; researcher and education consultant. When I was shown to the public in Nigeria on December 4, 2008, I was invited by the author and the university.
According to Awoyinfa, the world believes that sports is now a reference issue and cannot be ignored in all sectors of the economy and in the sphere of life. The author adds that this paper conducts a critical study on the hot issues in sports administration and studies the theories and principles of modern trends such as sports management and management, such as leadership, organization, planning, and motivation.
This text contains 16 chapters. The first chapter was named "The Concept of Sports Management." Here, Awoyinfa says management is a concept that suggests different things to different people at different times, leading to a definition of its diversity. He explained that management is described as an art, a science, a person or a person, a discipline and a process.
The author elaborates that as an art, sports management is through people's sports organization activities and tasks; as a science, sports management is about establishing sports philosophy, law, theory, principles, processes and practices. As an organization, according to him, sports management is defined as a means of creating formal structures and builds based on mission, goals, goals, functions and tasks.
Awoyinfa said that as a person or a group of people, sports management can refer to a single person in charge or all senior staff, committees, etc. As a discipline, management is a discipline involving a variety of subjects and topics. The author points out that sports management as a process is a systematic way of doing things. Awoyinfa emphasizes management functions in sports management such as planning, organization, staffing, coaching/leadership, control, coordination, budgeting and evaluation. Regardless of the sports manager, the author will educate the sports manager to be anyone at any level of the sports organization.

Others' efforts to achieve organizational goals in sports.
The second chapter is based on the theme of the evolution and trend of sports management thinking. Here, Awoyinfa revealed that the development of sports management thinking can be traced back to the first time people tried to achieve their goals through teamwork. In his words, "In many years before the twentieth century, there were serious thoughts and theories, which marked the beginning of modern sports management thoughts. In the twentieth century and Frederick Taylor and Henry Fayol The industrial revolution of the nineteenth century [19th century] may provide an atmosphere for this very serious theory."
Awoyinfa added that since the beginning of the 20th century, authors of sports management and business theory have come up with different theories on how to manage jobs and people more effectively. The author of this paper believes that the three main schools of management thought are: classic; human behavior; and integration. Awoyinfa also emphasized the early sports management theorists; the principles and characteristics of scientific management; this chapter assesses scientific management theory.
The third chapter is basically called the "sports management principles." In this chapter, the education consultant explained that the sports principles are the basic rules for establishing sports management practices. He added that management principles must therefore be based on their general terms to apply to sports organizations of different sizes and characteristics. "Modern sports managers and managers should be able to identify and use appropriate principles relevant to a particular situation. This is because no single principle can be applied to all administrative situations," Awoyinfa suggested.
He said that the basic principles of sports are principles applicable to all sports organizations, and because they are generally acceptable, they are sometimes referred to as "the general principles of sports management." The authors describe some of these principles: responsibility, empowerment, and communication. As for the human principles of sports management, Awoyinfa believes that these are democracy, justice, interpersonal relationships, compassion, empathy, consideration and humility.
In Chapter 4, based on the concept of behavioral and motivational theory in sports organizations, the authors say that humans are unique creatures because they behave differently under different conditions and are mostly unpredictable. Awoyinfa emphasizes that because human beings are the most important factor in sports organizations, sports managers need to understand why people understand in some way so that they [sports managers] can influence people to perform according to the needs of sports organizations. .
The author believes that a powerful tool that can be used to trigger athlete performance is motivation. In his words, "motivation is something that sports organizations need to make employees perform.

However, for sports managers, this is an important and puzzling theme. "Awoyinfa further discusses the development of incentive concepts in sports organizations in this chapter; the application of incentive theory in sports management; and behavior correction methods.
In the fifth chapter to the tenth chapter, the author analyzes the topics of sports organization management technology. The concept of sports organization; the scene design of sports organization; the planning concept in sports management; making sports organizations more effective in Nigeria and staffing in sports organizations.
Chapter 11 is based on the communication strategy of sports organizations. According to Awoyinfa, communication is a key factor in the efficiency of any organization, because when there is a lack of communication skills among members, the organization cannot function effectively. "Because communication is a moving spirit in an organization, its absence may make the organization stagnant," the author asserts.

In Chapters 12 through 16, Awoyinfa X-ray concepts such as organizational change and the development of sports management; sports executive leadership; football as a coach for management and management; teaching human dynamics and health education at schools and universities; Organization and management of educational schools at all levels.
Regarding the demo mode, this article is divided into pass tags. For example, the language is understandable and these ideas are well articulated. Considering the dual professional background of the author as a lecturer and pastor, I look forward to the simplicity of the language. To ensure easy reading of the reader's text, on the other hand, Awoyinfa highlights the goals of each chapter at the beginning and ends with a review/revision question.
More importantly, he creatively embroiders text with graphics [50, 97, 317, 330, 338, 395, etc.] to enhance the reader's interest. Communicate through visual communication. Awoyinfa includes references at the end of each chapter to fulfill the academic obligations of source disclosure and to provide readers with the opportunity to read more. The inclusion of many references also confirms the depth of his research. His use of the visual distinction of the phrase "modern trends" in the title is extremely creative.
If there are chapters that do make this text an outline of modern solutions that affect the administrative and management issues of our Nigerian sports development, then they are Chapter 4, Chapter 8, Chapters 11 and 13. This is because they discuss motivation, planning, communication, and leadership.
At the same time, the most important chapter of the theme is the fourth chapter. The fact that it is consciously or unconsciously considered to be the greatest chapter finds the actual expression in the deep communication and cohesion between the subject and the outer cover of the allegorical visual or metaphorical image [eg goalpost, bicycle race, etc.] . On the other hand, a lawn tennis player is ready to act with her bat, and the sprinter competes with the football player for the ball. These are the images used to illustrate in the motivational discourse.
However, some errors are not indicated in this article. The error is "confirmation" [page iii], not "thank you"; "preface" is not a paragraph of the first few paragraphs; "loose" [pages 396 and 404], not "lost". These errors need to be corrected in the next edition.
At the end of the analysis, this article is a compilation of irresistible sports management techniques. This is what all stakeholders in the sports world read, especially managers and administrators. This is simply fascinating.
