The new book reveals the unknown story of the 100th anniversary of the first Rose Bowl.

The Glory Opportunity is a book that can make great sports movies. It has everything a real sports fan or just a good story lover needs, from eye-catching plots to interesting characters, a mix of history, lots of action and considerable humor. It is being released in time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Washington State University's first Rose Bowl competition at Brown University in 1916.

Since writer Darin Watkins is now an alumnus of Washington State University, of course his focus is on the Washington team, he began to talk about a young school, in order to fight against its larger competitors, the University of Washington wants to limit the teaching content of its sister schools.

The opening chapter depicts a fascinating early football game at West Point in 1912 - this game will feature Olympic athlete Jim Thorpe and future generals as well as US President Dwight Eisenhower. One of the coaches of the game was "Pop" Warner, who was the coach of William Dietz and when he needed a good coach, he recommended him as a coach at Washington State University.

Washington State has a long history of losing football, but coach Dietz quickly turned around. I will let readers explore their own methods for themselves, but I will say that he is very creative. More notably, when racism dominated, he was a Native American. In 1915, when he became the coach of Cougars, Washington, he was only twenty-five years away from the injured knee massacre. However, not long after, Congress won his players and believes that he believes that they can not only become a team, but also become a strong opponent of other teams in the Pacific Northwest.

The next event is like a film montage that succeeds in winning the championship. However, Watkins takes the time to describe each game and every important game. He brings these historical figures into life and integrates feelings and emotions. Among them, making this book is like a good historical novel, but full of facts. Every player becomes our individual and we know them inside and outside the football field, including in some cases, the ladies they date. The amount of research that Watkins studied all of these works and delved into his role was amazing. He recorded all of this, but the book reads like a novel rather than history.

As Cougars won after the victory, they began to gain national attention, and soon they were invited to participate in the first Rose Bowl Championship. Of course, the Rose Bowl is a big problem today, but in 1915, no one was sure it would succeed. Watkins portrays the committee's efforts to get attention and sell tickets, the first Rose Championship parade, publicity, and the overall result of turning the game into a US institution.

One of the fascinating aspects of the Rose Bowl is Cougars, because they are going to Pasadena anyway, and are invited to participate in Hollywood movies - Tom Brown goes to Harvard - this is part of the popular silent film series at the time, including football games. Watkins ' Showcasing this in early filmmaking is both fascinating and humorous.

Then it goes into the rose bowl. Watkins has filled us with every game, every cheer, every worry, and a great victory. Throughout the written text, Watkins provides a very intuitive story about an event that can make history.

Few Americans overcome the adversity story as exciting and enjoyable as the opportunity of glory. Watkins ' In addition to other great historical stories, such as Erik Larson's devil in White City about the 1893 World Expo in Chicago, this book has other great besides the examples of other great historical stories. The history story tells of the abilities, and its victory information deserves a well-recognized Disney movie.

It was wonderful that Watkins put this book on the 100th anniversary of the Rose Bowl. Cougars' in Washington State reminds us that anyone with courage and dreams can succeed, whether in sports or anything else, trying to give life and meaning to football.
