Book review, new moon kick

Crescent Kick is Shawn Kovacich's fourth Achieving Kicking Excellence collection. Like his other volumes in the series, Kovacich attacked the crescent-shaped kick with meticulous detail and thoroughness.

This book is the most detailed written description of the execution of a crescent-shaped kick and should be included in any martial artist's book collection and kicked into his or her training. This is not a book, you just sit down and read the cover for enjoyment. This is a resource text for research and reference at different times during your training or teaching process. Yes teaching! I think teachers will learn how to teach the crescent of the crescent by reading this manual.

The most valuable part of the book is the basics of teaching the new moon and then the chapters of change. Changes in Kovacich's coverage include: receding the new moon kick, kicking the new moon kick, jumping/forward sliding the new moon kick, jumping/sliding to the new moon kick, kicking the new moon kick, switching the new moon kick, offset the new moon Kick, butterfly kicking, and kicking the crescent moon. These chapters do have some repetitions, but this makes the book easier to use as a reference tool because you can select books and view any one chapter without having to review different chapters. Kovacich uses a wealth of photos and illustrations to show all aspects of kicking, eye-catching angles, foot position and arc of kicking. As I mentioned, he attacks this with meticulous detail, and you won't find a more complete written record of the new moon anywhere.

The chapter on power, speed and power is the weakest chapter in the book. Although Kovacich has a good understanding of these topics, the real strength of this book is the detailed description of this book. There are many other resources that cover power, speed and power in more detail and depth than Kovaich. The good thing is that he introduced these concepts, and any good martial artist will further study these concepts and incorporate them into the training of their different resources.

The troubleshooting guide provides some great tips to get you better, and Kovacich also includes a short chapter on the New Moon kick app.

If you want to learn more about the New Moon click and the ten major changes, this book has more than 200 pages of text, photos and illustrations that are a must-have for your martial arts library. Regardless of style, it is a great resource for any martial artist.
