Without your efforts, your memory will not magically improve. These four techniques require some practice and concentration. However, the dividends exceed the time required to make them habitual.
1. Let us say that you believe and keep reminding yourself that you are bad when you remember your name. Ask yourself:
a] Did you deliberately follow this person when they introduced themselves? Have you missed their name?
b] Have you repeated their names?
c] Make a comment on the name. [It's the same name as a friend, or you've never heard of it before, etc.]
d] Do you associate some ridiculous and memorable things with their faces to help you remember their names? For example, let's say their name is from
Noseworthy from
. You can imagine a huge nose on their face; it deserves attention. Although it sounds ridiculous, the brain likes to think in pictures. The more ridiculous the association, the easier it is to remember.
e] Be brave and introduce them to colleagues.
f] Use their names more than once in the conversation. [Don't overdo it.]
e] Use their name when leaving.
Suppose you want to buy food for dinner. You are good at writing lists; it's awful to leave your list at home or misplaced. This is a simple reminder. Classify your list of items into categories. The mind likes big things and finds it easier to remember.
a] Dairy products: milk, butter, eggs
b] Vegetables: beans, carrots, beets
c] Meat: hamburger, chicken, steak
How do you remember how to spell difficult words? For this example, you can choose the word "believe." What have you learned at school, "Can never lie?"
The same idea applies to "PIE's PIESS".
This applies to remembering how to spell similar words.
"To be a stationAry is still stAnd, or "use stationEry is to write a lEtter".
"The principle of school is your PAL, the principle you believe is a ruler."
Have you used this?
4. Let us say that you are studying the exam, you must remember the periodic table of elements. Study the mnemonic used to remember it. It is possible that someone creatively presents a mnemonic for most of the things you are studying. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Be useful.
Never believe, because when you are older, your memory is declining. This is not an age issue, but a use issue. Proud to practice these four methods. Friends and family can comment on how much your memory has improved!
best wishes.
